    Fall Festivals, Outer Banks Style

    The fall weather is great, and music is on the horizon everywhere on the Outer Banks.  Weekends have always been filled with activities in the fall, but Columbus Day weekend (October 6-8th, this year) has really become something special.

    The 6th annual Duck Jazz Festival is one of the premier East Coast jazz festivals with between 3,000-4,000 people in attendance. It’s free, held on Sunday and there is music scheduled all day. Since the musicians are usually here for the weekend, they consistently show up in clubs and restaurants throughout the northern Outer Banks.     A new event this year is the Outer Banks Bluegrass Festival in Manteo. Headlined by Rhonda Vincent and the Rage, it’s a weekend long event with 12 bands scheduled to perform, workshops and late night after party events at the Outer Banks Brewing Station.     The following weekend, October 13 – 14th, the second annual Mustang Music festival is scheduled at Mike Dianna’s Grill Room, Timbuck II Shopping Plaza, in Corolla. One of the great features of Mike’s festival is two stages for performers, which keeps music consistently playing. Proceeds benefit the Corolla Wild Horse Fund.
