    Live Outer Banks Music Summer 2017

    Summer and our spectacular weather is coming to the Outer Banks, and that wonderful weather should last well into October. That means, of course, that it’s time to get outside and enjoy some of the best features of local life!

    As things get busier, live music becomes a big part of the Outer Banks experience and one of the best ways to enjoy the music and the day is to be outside while musicians are playing.

    The list we’ve put together only includes places where music occurs on an ongoing basis. Neither Roanoke Island Festival Park—which is a fantastic place for outdoor music—nor the Nags Head Event Site on Roanoke Sound are included. Both feature live music from time to time, but it is not a regular part of their schedule.

    We’ve put together a short list of places to check out for live outdoor music. This is not a complete list, but it’s a good starting point.

    The Whalehead Club

    Corolla Village Outer Banks

    The Whalehead Club in Corolla sits on one of the most spectacular settings on the Outer Banks. Perched on a small peninsula at the edge of Currituck Sound, it’s surrounded by 39 acres of beautifully groomed grass and large live oak trees for shade.

    Every Wednesday starting at 3:00 p.m. its Whalehead Wednesday in Corolla.

    There is beer and wine for purchase, but this is very much a family friendly event featuring live music from local bands.

    Duck Town Green

    Duck Town Green Live Music

    A beautifully designed town park in the heart of the business district of the village, the Duck Town Green features a gazebo that is perfect for live music. There is also an outdoor stage that is often used.

    Shows are every Thursday night from June 22 through August 24.

    Sanctuary Vineyards—Acoustic Sunset

    Set among the towering pines surrounding the Cotton Gin in Jarvisburg, Sanctuary Vineyards Acoustic Sunset is the perfect way to unwind. On Thursdays throughout the summer and into the first few weeks of September, there is wine, some very good acoustic music and a marvelous family atmosphere.

    Aqua Restaurant and Spa

    It would be hard to imagine a more spectacular setting to sip a drink and watch the sunset over the Currituck Sound than Aqua Restaurant and Spa in Duck. Featuring a great wine list and outstanding cuisine, having a chilled glass of wine on the deck and listening to music while the sets below the horizon is a reminder of how good life can be.

    Roadside Bar and Grill

    Located in Duck, it’s not immediately apparent that there is space for outdoor entertainment at Roadside. Relatively small in size, there has always been a small seating area outside, but last year owners created a wonderful backyard space for drinks and music. It’s almost like a European beer garden.

    Pamlico Jack’s

    Rivaling Aqua for the most spectacular place on the Outer Banks for outdoor music with a drink, Pamlico Jack’s in Nags Head has a wonderful bar and deck that was designed with a pirate ship in mind. The view across Roanoke sound is spectacular; the apps are good and the drinks reasonably priced.
