Hatteras Island is the place to go for those who enjoy history, nature, unique boutiques and North Carolina seafood. Imagine picturesque miles of undeveloped beach wilderness and stretches of sand dunes that connect the seven village communities; Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras.

    Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge
    With more than 265 species of birds, such as Canadian and snow geese, heron, egret and tern, Pea Island is considered a birder’s paradise.  Guided bird walk programs are offered year round and there are hiking trails along Pea Island beaches to observe all the magnificent wildlife the island has to offer.
