Hurricane Arthur now a Category Two storm with winds of 100 mph. At 9:00 PM, the center of Arthur was located approximately 110 miles from Cape Hatteras, NC.
Watches And Warnings
A Hurricane Warning is in effect for the Dare County Outer Banks and the Currituck County Outer Banks, including Corolla, Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head.
A Tornado Watch is in effect until 2:00 AM Friday July 4, 2014 for Dare County, including Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head.
There is no evacuation order for Currituck County (Corolla)
There is no evacuation order for Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills or Nags Head.
A Mandatory Evacuation is underway for Hatteras Island. Access to Hatteras Island is prohibited until further notice.

Storm Reports and Other Information
Hurricane Arthur will produce a variety of impacts, including gusty winds, heavy rainfall, coastal flooding and dangerous surf producing beach erosion, high surf and rip currents.
Sustained winds of 40-mph or greater will begin to impact the area late this evening. Hurricane-force winds (74-mph or greater) are forecast to impact the area after midnight and last for several hours. Maximum winds are forecast to be in the 65 to 85-mph range with gusts to 110-mph.
Hurricane Arthur is forecast to produce rainfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches. Some isolated areas could receive up to 7 inches of rain.
The threat for flooding along the oceanside will begin late this evening and tonight as Hurricane Arthur approaches the area, producing breaking waves in excess of 15-feet. The threat for soundside flooding will begin late tonight abd early Friday as Hurricane Arthur moves away from the area.

For our Current Guests
In preparation for the wind, we ask that you please make sure all loose articles in the yard and on the decks are secure. You may stack the furniture if it is light. If we experience any power outages, please know that the power company in this area is very responsive and will get it restored as quickly as possible. You can also expect possible wind-driven rain under sliders or other leaks and perhaps a few shingles off of the roof. Please report anything unusual to us after the storm has passed.

For our Incoming Guests
At this time we are not expecting significant impact to rentals beginning the weekend of July 4-6, 2014. Please understand that we are experiencing high call volume and our phone lines are very busy at this time as we handle current guest concerns and preparations for the approaching storm. We will be performing post-storm assessments where needed and you will be contacted should we discover significant issues with your rental home.

In preparation for the wind, we are asking your guests to ensure loose articles in the yard and on decks are secure and to be prepared for temporary power outages. If this occurs, they have been informed the power company in this area is very responsive and will get power restored as quickly as possible. If your home is not occupied this week, or if your guests have chosen to depart due to the storm, Carolina Designs is prepared to secure the property if needed.
