Hurricane Sandy has reported winds of 90 mph. At 5:00 PM, the center of Sandy was located approximately 205 miles NNE of Kill Devil Hills, NC. Sandy has a very large wind field, with 39+ mph winds extending out 485 miles from the center.

All Tropical Storm Warnings for Eastern NC have been dropped.

Evacuation Information
At this time, there are no evacuation plans for Corolla, Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills or Nags Head.
Storm Reports and Other Information
Dare County Emergency Management advises that there is an increased threat of inundation of soundside flooding… 4-6 feet above ground. The highest impact will be seen after sunset. [More Details…]
Much of NC-12 (Beach Road) in Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head is flooded and impassable.
Police report upwards of 6-feet of flood water between US-158 and NC-12 in Kitty Hawk.
Dare County and Currituck County schools are closed for Tuesday October 30.
Kill Devil Hills has enacted a curfew, effective at 7:00 PM tonight.
The Bonner Bridge is closed at Oregon Inlet due to overwash on Pea Island and Hatteras Island.
Ferry routes along the NC coast with embarkation/debarkation in Dare, Currituck or Hyde have suspended operations until conditions are deemed safe.
