    Hurricane ArthurCategory One Hurricane Arthur has reported winds of 80 mph. At 8:00 AM, the center of Arthur was located approximately 300 miles from Cape Hatteras, NC.

    Watches And Warnings
    A Hurricane Warning is in effect for the Dare County Outer Banks and the Currituck Outer Banks.

    A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the entire North Carolina coast.

    Evacuation Information
    At this time, there are no evacuation plans in Currituck County (Corolla)

    At this time, there is no evacuation order for Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills or Nags Head.

    The Dare County Control Group has issued a mandatory evacuation for residents and visitors on Hatteras Island, which is now underway. [More Details…]

    Hyde County officials issued a voluntary evacuation of Ocracoke Island. [More Details…]

    Storm Reports and Other Information
    Hurricane Arthur will produce a variety of impacts, including gusty winds, heavy rainfall, coastal flooding and dangerous surf producing beach erosion, high surf and rip currents.

    Sustained winds of 40-mph or greater will begin to impact the area late this evening. Hurricane-force winds (74-mph or greater) are forecast to impact the area Friday morning and last for a few hours. Maximum winds are forecast to be in the 60 to 80-mph range with gusts to 105-mph.

    Hurricane Arthur is forecast to produce rainfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches. Some isolated areas could receive up to 7 inches of rain.

    The threat for flooding along the oceanside will begin late tonight as Hurricane Arthur approaches the area, producing breaking waves in excess of 15-feet. The threat for soundside flooding will begin Friday as Hurricane Arthur moves away from the area.
