    Hurricane ArthurHurricane Arthur exits Outer Banks near Nags Head and is moving away from the area. Arthur is a Category One storm with winds of 90 mph. At 9:00 AM, the center of Arthur was located approximately 120 miles ENE of Kitty Hawk.

    Entry to the northern portions of Dare County is no longer restricted. This allows access to the Towns and unincorporated areas north of Oregon Inlet. While general access to these areas is now permitted, you may encounter particular roads where local officials need to restrict access because of potential hazards. Access to Hatteras Island will remain closed until further notice. This affects access from northern Dare County to the Villages of Hatteras Island including Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, Buxton, Frisco, and Hatteras.

    Watches And Warnings
    A Hurricane Warning is in effect for the Dare County Outer Banks and the Currituck County Outer Banks, including Corolla, Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head.

    Winds will continue to diminish throughout the day as Arthur pulls away from the area. Tropical Storm-force winds with gusts to Hurricane-force will be possible for the next few hours.

    Water levels on the soundside will recede this morning as the winds diminish.

    There will be rough surf with breaking waves in excess of 15-feet.
