2022 Outer Banks Vacations Booking Faster Than Ever
The Outer Banks has been a popular vacation destination for decades, and that popularity continues to grow. 2022 weeks have booked quickly, and Carolina Designs Realty opened 2023 booking calendars in January 2022 to help families plan ahead for the coming year’s vacation. For any home that does not yet have its 2023 rates posted, there is an option to place an advanced hold on a 2023 week in the home for $50.
Why the increase in demand? In 2021, vacation homes booked faster than in past years as more families attended work and school remotely and opted for drive-to-travel destinations over flights and cruises. Even Netflix’s “Outer Banks” played a part by inspiring people who had never experienced our area to give it a try. Understandably, many of those new visitors fell in love with the area and made plans to return. Other families who postponed travel in 2020 and 2021 have been eager to resume vacations and reunite with family at the beach. As a result, 2022 vacations have booked even faster than in 2021.
If you’re having trouble finding the right home, consider trying different search criteria. Traditional summer weeks book faster than other timeframes; plan a spring or fall vacation instead. (Fall is the locals’ favorite season!) If you prefer to stay oceanfront, consider trying a home set further back from the shore. Many semi-oceanfront and oceanside homes are just a short walk from community beach accesses. Availability on our website is real-time, so check back frequently for cancellations on your preferred weeks. New homes with availability join our program throughout the year as well.
To help our guests get a head start on their 2024 vacation planning, we will be opening our 2024 booking calendars for all homes in the first quarter of 2023. Opening our booking calendars earlier than ever means our Rebooking Policy has changed from past years, and we were in touch with past guests about these changes in advance. We’re excited to continue helping vacationers plan their visits as far ahead as possible.
