Tropical Storm Sandy has winds of 70 mph. At 5:00 AM, Sandy was located 514 miles from Kill Devil Hills, NC.
Watches And Warnings
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the North Carolina Coast from Duck southward, including the Sounds. Gale Warnings and Storm Watches are in effect for areas north of the Tropical Storm Warning area, which includes the Currituck Outer Banks (Corolla).
Evacuation Information
At this time, there are no evacuation plans for Corolla, Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills or Nags Head. Emergency Managers in both Dare and Currituck counties are monitoring the progress of Sandy, and advise residents and visitors to make safety preparations prior to this weekend.
