Outer Banks … Top Wedding Destination
The Outer Banks of North Carolina is a major wedding destination, not only for many who have grown up vacationing here but also for those adventurous couples who want an experience and an opportunity to enjoy family and friends in a relaxed setting. Our windswept beaches offer a stunning backdrop for ocean-side weddings at sunrise or sunset and all times in between.
If your ceremony takes place on the beach north of Nags Head, you are not required to obtain any sort of special event permit. Only on Hatteras Island is a permit required.
The surf, sand, invigorating salt air and the song of the seagulls will make your seaside ceremony a lasting remembrance and your guests will marvel at this magnificent coastal hideaway where spirits are renewed and minds refreshed. Don’t be surprised if first- time visitors want to make the Outer Banks their future vacation spot and join you again next year!
Event homes have been designed for large groups and you will find many choices in several towns and villages- oceanfront and also sound side. Receptions are often held poolside or inside if weather is a factor. There are also various off-site reception venues available. You might consider several smaller homes, located within walking distance of each other, which offers the opportunity to socialize but also quiet time. Often, young couples with children like to be together in larger homes and more mature guests enjoy the tranquility and flexibility of the smaller homes. This also spreads the parking out to several areas. Nearby hotel accommodations work for those guests that can only be at the actual ceremony, staying a night or two.
Booking your home is the first step in getting married on the Outer Banks. Step two is deciding on the exact date for the ceremony during the week you are here. Once you know this, all other vendors can be contacted and secured.
