    Hurricane Sandy has reported winds of 75 mph. At 8:00 AM, the center of Sandy was located approximately 308 miles from Kill Devil Hills, NC. Sandy has a very large wind field, with 35+ mph winds extending out 520 miles from the center. Therefore, Tropical Storm-force winds are expected to continue along the Outer Banks through Monday

    Watches And Warnings
    A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the Dare County Outer Banks, including the Sounds. High Wind and Coastal Flood Warnings cover the Currituck Outer Banks (Corolla).

    Evacuation Information
    At this time, there are no evacuation plans for Corolla, Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills or Nags Head.

    Storm Reports and Other Information
    The Bonner Bridge is closed at Oregon Inlet due to overwash on Pea Island.

    More overwash flooding is being reported on NC-12 in Kitty Hawk and in South Nags Head on Old Oregon Inlet Road.

    In Dare County, widely scattered power outages are being reported by Dominion Power.

    Ferry routes along the NC coast with embarkation or debarkation in Dare County or Currituck County have suspended operations until conditions are deemed safe.
