    Hurricane Sandy Update (10/27/2012 8:00 PM)

    Hurricane Sandy has reported winds of 75 mph. At 8:00 PM, the center of Sandy was located approximately 384 miles from Kill Devil Hills, NC. Sustained Tropical Storm-force winds will arrive along the Outer Banks tonight.

    Watches And Warnings
    A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the North Carolina Coast from Duck southward, including the Sounds. A High Wind Watch is in effect for the Currituck Outer Banks (Corolla).

    Evacuation Information
    At this time, there are no evacuation plans for Corolla, Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills or Nags Head.

    Blowing sand and ocean overwash are being reported on NC-12 south of the Bonner Bridge.

    All ferry routes along the NC coast have suspended operations until conditions are deemed safe. [Read More Here]
