After conducting surveys of outfitters and their customers around the world, Kitty Hawk Kites has been named one of 105 named “Best Outfitters on Earth” by National Geographic Adventure magazine. National Geographic Adventure magazine was launched eight years ago and circulates to more than 600,000 consumers. To be considered, the score from the customer surveys needed to exceed 80 percent. According to a representative with National Geographic Adventure, Kitty Hawk Kites ranked far above the 80 percent required.
To qualify, Kitty Hawk Kites, as well as other outfitters, filled out a questionnaire based on four categories: education and interpretation; sustainable-travel practices; quality of service; and spirit of adventure. After the questionnaires were evaluated, Kitty Hawk Kites had to provide National Geographic Adventure’s researchers with customers from around the world. The customer surveys determined who would be listed in the Top 105 Best Outfitters on Earth.
Kitty Hawk Kites has thirteen locations on the Outer Banks and was founded in 1974 by John Harris, a pioneer in hang gliding, to provide instruction, products, and service; also offering kite boarding instruction, kayak eco tours, parasailing and many other adventures.
