The Town of Nags Head received final approval for a 2-acre town park planned across the street from Jennette’s Pier using a $75,000 state Parks and Recreation Trust Fund and the Department of Coastal Resources grant as well as monies donated to the town to purchase the property.  The town has set aside $325,000 in town and Dare County Tourism Board money for playground equipment made out of recycled material and stainless steel hardware including slides, ramps, steps and small “rock” climbing walls.  Another component of the park allots for parking up to 72 vehicles, bocci ball courts, horseshoe pits, picnic tables, benches and a walking trail.

The park’s location is just south of Sam and Omie’s Restaurant and will wrap behind the Duneburger property at the fork of N.C. 12 in Whalebone.
