A co-worker’s family experienced the Pirate Adventures of the Outer Banks in Manteo yesterday. He said it was wonderful and well worth the money. The kids get to dress up, shoot water cannons at other ships/pirates, find a treasure map which lead them to a treasure in the water. They bring the treasure up and the kids get to pick something out of the treasure box. The experience was close to something you would do at Disney World.

Instead of exchanging gifts among ourselves at our holiday gathering this year, Meredith Olinger coordinated donations from Carolina Designs Realty employees in order to purchase a specially made bicycle for a child with downs syndrome. Meredith became aware of this child’s needs by contacting Interfaith Community Outreach and asking how we could benefit the community. Interfaith Community Outreach (ICO) a non-profit interfaith organization of volunteers who are supported by more than 20 local faith communities and network partners dedicated to providing emergency gap services and referrals to people on the Outer Banks and surrounding areas who have no other place to turn for help.
Meredith was able to secure the purchase of the bicycle through Bicycle Barn in Kill Devil Hills. The family will receive this special gift for their child well before Santa comes to town.
In addition, Meredith used the remaining funds collected to accommodate the needs of a family with a 16 year old boy and a 4 year old girl from the Angel tree at Hotline, a non-profit organization assisting area families in crisis situations associated with abuse.
During our gathering, we will all contribute canned goods for the Outer Banks Food Pantry.
This year, giving had a VERY special meaning to us by what we were able to do for our community.
Our Wonderful Vacation Experience
“Thank you for everything you do. My family and I rented By Grace #225, for Bike Week and it was absolutely perfect. All of my children are grown and I now have a couple of grandchildren. Other than Christmas, it is rare that we all get together. This was the first time in two plus years. All but one of my five children either rides or are involved with someone that rides, so Bike Week is a great for us. The combination of the location and floor plan of the house contributed greatly to our wonderful vacation experience. The beauty of the area combined with the hospitality of all the local people and businesses also were major factors in our vacation being awesome. All of my children agree that this vacation was comparable to the Disney stuff we did with them when they were young! Thanks again.”
