Family Vacation Critic editor Lissa Poirot of said the criteria for the list included beaches recognized for cleanliness and for providing safe water for young swimmers and plenty of activities for families within walking distance

“The U.S. has an incredible coastline and many beautiful beaches to choose from,” she said. “But for families, there’s more to a good beach than just a great stretch of sand. As parents, we were looking for certain features that make beaches specifically family-friendly.”

The Top Five family friendly beaches on the list are: Walmanalo Bay Beach Park in Oahu, Hawaii; Outer Beach in Cape Cod, Mass.; Deerfield Beach near Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Sand Beach at Acadia National Park in Maine; and Cape Hatteras National Seashore in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  We’re happy to be recognized as a great place to bring families and look forward to welcoming everyone to our beaches.

Discover some of the most unique sights our area has to offer with their air-conditioned Excursions or open-air tours.   Friendly and knowledgeable guides take you onto the pristine northern beaches - accessible only with a 4×4 off-road vehicle – in search of Outer Banks Wild Corolla Spanish Mustang Horses

How fun is this!  Front Porch Café in Nags Head hosts board gamers every Friday as they go head-to-head on many different kinds of abstract strategy games. These games are in the same vein as chess, but some are obscure, original, and all are quite fun. They have card games like Lost Cities, German games like those from the GIPF project, and beautiful wooden games like Cathedral and Quoridor. Don’t expect to roll dice and press your luck. This is pure strategy, and it is a great opportunity for young people to develop their strategy minds with these brain-burners. Gamers meet between 3 and 5 p.m. on Friday afternoons.

Front Porch Cafe is located at the Food Lion Plaza in Nags Head at MP 10.5 on Highway 158. Hours are 6 AM – 6 PM year around, and evening hours during the summer. Stop by and enjoy! Call 252-480-6616 for more information.
