A recent article in the Charlotte Observer promoted the Town of Duck as being the first Outer Banks community to install a seven-mile multi-use trail; the town recently added a boardwalk that runs between Town Park and the primary business district.  It also has been building a sound-side boardwalk connecting Town Park (Duck’s 11-acre civic/cultural center, complete with walking trails, playground and picnic area) with area businesses; the boardwalk currently is two-thirds of a mile long and has a fishing dock and a canoe/kayak put-in.

The main road through Duck, meanders through remains of maritime forest and quiet residential areas. The feel is of a small community (something town officials are proud of).

Biking and kayaking are very popular in the area; but you can also sail, windsurf, parasail and jet ski, especially on the sound. More traditional beach activities like swimming, fishing and simmering in the sun are still in vogue.

Known for providing a refined and relaxed experience, Duck offers a wide array of shopping. Food options are as varied; it’s no harder to get a burger or pizza than a fine-dining experience.

An article from Lansing State Journal recently conveyed how close our remote paradise really is – just a 90-minute drive from Norfolk Airport in Virginia, or an easy drive from DC, Richmond, and other major cities.

Every town within the Outer Banks community has something special to offer, from the wide Atlantic to the expansive Currituck Sound.

The Outer Banks is heaven to fishermen, boaters, kayakers, and golfers alike.  Low-density rentals and an absence of high-rise hotels keep the 60-mile strand of beach and shore stretching across Currituck and Dare counties natural and scenic.

#766, Inside Out, a distinctive 8 bedroom oceanfront home in Nags Head, NC, was awarded the honor of People’s Choice Award at the Outer Banks Parade of Homes held in mid October.  This house is the first on the Outer Banks to incorporate multiple accordion-style folding glass wall systems in the great room and two master suites. When fully opened, the top level great room showcases a 14 foot unobstructed view of the Atlantic. The outdoor living area includes an L-shaped concrete pool with a Caribbean style sunken tiki bar with swim-up bar seats. The furnishings and decor are refreshingly trendy and add a “Wow Factor” to every vacation!
