Today, celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day, and become inspired to work toward a healthier planet. Outdoor spaces, especially on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, provide a sense of peace and add immeasurably to our quality of life. They give us a chance to experience nature, to be around wildlife, spark our imaginations and rejuvenate our spirits. These places and experiences embolden our sense of duty to protect the environment from the threat of pollution.

On Saturday, April 16th, the 2011 Ride to a Wish, a challenging 33/50/100 mile course through scenic Tyrrell County in Columbia, NC, was very successful due to Rose McHale’s hard work and dedication in planning and organizing a very successful event raising $30K to help FIVE kids! She attributes a great deal of her success to Carolina Designs Realty for offering #023 Seahawk an oceanside five bedroom vacation rental home in Duck as part of a fantastic raffle package, $1000 cash donation, and indirectly generating $7500 from riders, additional donations, and even some of the entertainment.  All proceeds from the ride are contributed to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern North Carolina.

On behalf of all of us here at Carolina Designs Realty, we especially thank Evelyn and Kip McDonald for their participation in this very worthy cause to help make dreams come true for so many kids!

In an article written by Principal Broker/Owner of Carolina Designs Realty, Monica Thibodeau, in the NORTH BEACH SUN – SPRING 2011, she elaborated on what our little town is buzzing about. “… We are shaking off winter and getting ready for warmer weather and the arrival of our Outer Banks visitors…” The road project that has been underway along Rout 12 since last September is just about complete. Be on the lookout for another repaving project in the fall when we expect to see new asphalt and stripes from Plover Drive north through downtown Duck, almost to the Fire Station. Scheduled to be complete in late August, Duck’s most prominent project is underway just along the Town Park, where the Town Hall and Community Meeting buildings are taking shape. These indoor areas will complement the many outdoor gathering spots already established in the park. An exciting new addition to the town is the continuation of the boardwalk at the town park northward along the sound all the way to the Waterfront Shops. Keep up to date by logging on to the town’s website, www.townofduck.com.

    Welcome Spring. Welcome everyone!

First Friday is a fun-filled family-oriented street festival held the first Friday of each month, April through December from 4 to 8 p.m. on the Downtown Manteo Waterfront.  The sidewalks pulse with live music, magic, artisans, period-dressed actors, a rockclimbing wall and much more.  Tantalizing aromas waft from the kitchens of the Waterfront’s diverse eateries.  Many shops and restaurants do individual celebrations inside their establishments, offering their own live music, unique merchandise, special sales and light refreshments.

As a featured vendor at the Travel & Adventure Show in March at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC, Monica Thibodeau and Jean Sherwood greeted more than 8,000 potential guests during the event showcased our great selection of vacation homes, and offered a chance to win a Vacation Giveaway.

Carolina Designs Realty is pleased to announce that James from Clinton, Maryland won our Vacation Giveaway, a three night stay at #023, Sea Hawk, a beautiful oceanside five bedroom home in Duck, NC.
