During the sleepy months of January and February, many of the entertainment venues slow down a bit. But not the Outer Banks Music Showcase, they have two shows worth mentioning that are coming soon!
Yes folks, Elvis will be in the building Saturday, January 10th at 7:30 p.m. Sterling Riggs will make a comeback as the King for the “Elvis Tribute Show.” You’ll get to hear all of his oldies but goodies and possibly get serenaded…
No turning on the tube to see the American Idol competition when you can see the Outer Banks Idol Competition and Show right in your own back yard Friday, February 20th and Saturday, February 21st at 7:30 p.m. Bring your friends and family, because you as the audience will be the judges.
To get in on all this fun, call 252.261.7505 to reserve your seat and/or cast your vote!
Living in a beautiful place has great advantages. Within a rock’s throw, you are at the beach, walking in the maritime forest, climbing the largest sand dune on the East coast, surfing the best waves on the East coast, learning where we first set foot here long ago is only the beginning… We have great schools; in fact, the Outer Banks Sentinel reported “Big news at First Flight Elementary School (FFES) located in Kill Devil Hills on the Outer Banks. The school was recently named the North Carolina nominee for the National Title I Distinguished Schools Award for Exceptional Student Performance. Principal Margie Parker states ‘This recognition is particularly rewarding for the First Flight Elementary faculty and staff, parents and community who have quietly gone about their work of doing whatever it takes to ensure the success of every child. It also means a $7,500 award for FFES. Parker told staff the award ‘is an affirmation of your efforts to make sure every child is successful.’
The Outer Banks is all about being family friendly. We cater to families in the vacation rental homes that we offer, the shops, stores and activities that surround us. This is a great place to raise children with a very low crime rate, great schools and so much!
If you are traveling to the Outer Banks, remember that North Carolina travelers can dial 511 for information about road conditions and traffic delays caused by accidents or bad weather. The new toll free service is available statewide 24 hours a day and uses speech-recognition technology to retrieve information from the North Carolina Department of Transportation Web site database converting it to speech. Travelers verbally respond to options presented by the system and are led by a ‘drill-down’ process to the information they seek.
Dial 511 is free unless your mobile telephone service charges you for the call. When you connect, you receive a greeting and you may hear an urgent message such as a statewide weather emergency, an Amber Alert or information about a wreck that has shut down a major highway.
