Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head Officially Open

Jennette’s Pier officially opened with a bang Saturday, May 21 as Gov. Beverly Purdue christened the new, $25 million ocean-fishing pier in Nags Head around noon with a bottle of champagne.

After that, hundreds of residents and visitors rushed into the 16,000-square-foot pier house and 1,000-foot-long pier to enjoy the afternoon. All admission fees to the state-owned and operated pier were waived for the day.
