Lowe’s Home Improvement Store Plans

On July 21st, TheOuterBanksVoice.com reported that Lowe’s submitted their site plan for a 159,000 sq.ft. home improvement store on a commercial zoned 12.8 acres between West First Street and West Landing Drive on Route 158 to the Kill Devil Hills Planning Dept.  If approved, this will be the largest retail store in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina.

Alternative Energy Comes to the North Carolina Aquarium

North Carolina Dominion Power reported a grant of $500,000 for alternative energy demonstrations to the North Carolina Aquarium Pier in Nags Head.
The facility, formerly known as Jennette’s Pier, is under construction and is due to be completed in the spring of 2011.  It will feature environmental education programs, science camps, live animal displays, public events and fishing.
Wind turbines, solar panels and fuel cells will generate electricity on-site to offset the facility’s power needs.  And visitors will be able to see how these three energy systems will work and the role clean energy plays in protecting our oceans.
